The Banyabindi people

The Banyabindi originally migrated from the great Bunyoro Kingdom. They are cultivators and were badly affected by the Rwenzururu rebellion of the 1950s which led to their displacement and many of them dying. Subsequent regimes did not provide an enabling environment for them to settle back into their homes. Having lost all their land, they also suffer stigma from neighboring ethnic groups and have an identity crisis by likely facing extinction. They survive by renting cheap land for cultivation from absentee landlords. As a minority group they lack political representation due to their small numbers.
See them on my pictures 1-84.
