Amenemhat I is the oldest member of our family we have a picture of. It is impossible to construct a credible family line through the genealogical chaos of the dark 1st Intermediate Period back to the Old Kingdom. Amenemhat was the son of a priest named Senuseret (Sesostris) and a black Nubian woman called Nefret.
