My trip to Jamaica
In august 1986 I
had ten days off
from my lectures
on racism in
America and decided
to go to
Jamaica. I came
unprepared without
knoving anybody. The
first night I stayed
in a shack with 5
gangsters in
Trenchtown in
Kingston. The night
was so violent that
next day I fled up
to Ocho Rios where
there were no
tourists in stifling
august. So I ended
up hanging out with
the unemployed
prostitutes which
was an interesting
sociological study.
Most time I spent
with the better
educated among them
- one of them was an
expert in Greek
philosophy. |
