The author James Baldwin had tried for years to get to see my show American Pictures, but lived most of the time in Paris. Finally he succeeded when he drove for two hours in a snow storm in Massachusetts to see it in Worchester Polytech. He agreed with almost all of my conclusions, so afterwards we continued home to drink whisky and beer all night. Only a month later he died from stomach cancer.
