Seafarer and war hero Peter Willemoes was born in Assens in 1783. Today his birthplace is a museum. Peter Willemoes´ brave fight in the naval battle of 1801  against England and the famous admiral Horatio Nelson in Copenhagen´s Harbour echoed through-out the Country.
