Zimbabwe: Washing up at bedtime

Right after the liberation of Zimbabwe I hitchhiked around the country with Kitte Fennestad to find suitable projects, which we in American Pictures could support. After several days of wandering in the bush in an attempt to reach Batsiranai a communal farm made up of 180 former freedom fighters whom we ended up sending tractors and farm machinery we had to spend the night with this peasant family. They gave us a bath in this bowl before we were allowed to share their bed the floor of stamped clay in their hut.
