People in Namibia's slums:

Cecilia's sickness

In Ovamboland I lived with Cecilia and her sisters. Cecilia was always laying sick in bed, worrying about aids. Like most of Namibia's women she had no inhibitions about being photographed naked and after sharing beds with her sisters for some days I didn't pay any attention to their nakedness either. This was quite different from my experience of living with blacks in America where nudity is surrounded with feelings of shame.
