A tribute to Sandra
at her death in 2013 in pictures and videos from our friendship through
29 years.
I met Sandra in Harvard when as president of the Harvard Black Law
Students she helped organize "American Pictures" in 1984-85. We
soon bonded with each other both sharing a
deep commitment to the struggle for social and racial justice and continued working
together and visiting each other over the years.
Sandra was a true people lover and even when it came to her commitment
of fighting racism she always had as much understanding, compassion and
forgiveness for the racist/oppressor as for the victim. In our extrovert
political struggles - not least against apartheid - I was in the
beginning blind to her move introvert spiritual sides from which she
drew so much of her people knowledge. She will always be in my heart!
